The Core is a non-profit organization by the kids and for the kids. Their end goal is to have a place for kids to hang out that embodies Santa Cruz to its very Core — a hub that will revolve around the active surf lifestyle of the unique kids that comprise our east side community.
The Core will be beginning weekly Wednesday night gatherings in a week or two at the multi-purpose building of Camp Santa Cruz at the ocean side corner of 26th Avenue and Portola (across from Cole’s BBQ). The first night will be a Napoleon Dynamite Night complete with a showing of the movie on the big screen and a tater-tot eating contest. These weekly gatherings will give The Core a chance to try out various activities, build leadership, and keep kids involved. The next Core dance is scheduled for Saturday, March 12 at the 418 Project.
