On Friday, March 12 at 7:00 p.m., New Beginnings, a homegroup church located in the San Lorenzo Valley, will be sponsoring a forum on the “Passion of the Christ”. The forum will take place at the Felton Community Hall.
This forum asks whether the Bible’s depiction of Jesus (recently portrayed by Mel Gibson’s film) is intellectually reasonable. Our speaker and moderator is Pastor Ted Myer, who has a unique background combining science and spirituality. In addition to graduate degrees in both mathematics (UCSC) and theological studies (Western Seminary), Myer has wrestled with intellectual doubts in his own spiritual journey.
“While no one is intellectually compelled to believe the Bible,” he says, “I believe it’s reasonable to do so.” A twenty minute lecture is followed by a time for questions and answers. This event is offered at no cost, and refreshments are provided. Come and decide for yourself: Is the Jesus of the Bible only a foolish passion?
