First Baptist Church of San Lorenzo Valley will be presenting their 2006 Spring Conference, entitled “Christ and Culture,” on Saturday, April 1 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The guest lecturer will be Dr. James Grier, the Distinguished Professor of Philosophical Theology at Cornerstone University and Grand Rapids Theological Seminary. There is no cost for this conference which will take place at First Baptist Church (7301 Highway 9 in Felton).

From the conference brochure: “What is culture? How are God’s people to respond to the culture of their world? How are we to be faithful as Salt and Light in the context of the culture around us? Even though many Christians may answer differently, we are all asking the same questions and faced with the same challenges of ministering Christ’s love to our world. Dr. James M. Grier is one who has devoted much of his life to the study of God’s Word and to answering the question of how to present the hope of the gospel of Jesus Christ within the context of our ‘Postmodern,’ American culture. Dr. Grier is a learned, thoughtful, and gracious servant of the Lord whose wisdom and teaching have impacted many lives in the service of God’s kingdom.”

Saturday will include sessions entitled “Culture from Creation to the Fall,” “Judgment on the Corruption of Man and His Culture,” and “The Church Between the Gospel and Culture.”

First Baptist Church wishes to share this opportunity with Christ’s church in Santa Cruz and surrounding areas. If you would like to register for the conference, or would like further information, contact the church at 831.335.4457.
