U.S. Secretary of Education Rod Paige announced the names of the 2002-2003 NLCB - Blue Ribbon Schools. Baymonte was one of 214 schools in the nation to receive the distinction based upon the newly established criteria emphasizing student achievement.
Principal Steve Patterson was first notified of the school’s selection by Congresswoman Anna Eshoo’s office. Senator Barbara Boxer’s office called later to congratulate the school. Mr. Patterson and Vice Principal Jody Jones will travel to Washington, D.C. in October to receive the award on behalf of the school.
Baymonte qualified for the program based upon the results of the school’s annual student achievement tests and other evidences of academic quality evaluated by the Department of Education.
