Who’s played chess with the notorious mass murderer, Charles Manson? The guest speaker for Gateway’s next men’s breakfast, Chaplain Earl Smith...that’s who! On May 15 at 8:00 a.m. at Gateway Bible Church, he will be sharing this story among many others.
Chaplain Earl Smith is the chaplain at San Quentin State Prison. San Quentin has a unique prison ministry with more outside lay volunteers than all of the California State Prison system combined. Under the guidance of Chaplain Smith, several successful internal leadership development programs have equipped convicted felons to reintegrate into society and spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In addition to Chaplain Smith’s prison ministry, he also has a professional sports ministry that includes the San Francisco 49ers and the Golden State Warriors.
